How to look after your bras

  • April 9, 2014 at 9:00 am

Some bras simply last longer than others, obviously depending on how often it is worn and washed. To ensure your new purchase lasts as long as possible, here are a few tips for prolonging the life of your lingerie.

Care Instructions
To guarantee longevity of your beloved piece of underwear, be sure to follow these simple steps. Whether it’s a plunge bra, T-shirt bra or balconette bra, use these instructions as a guide and your underwear draw will forever be in tip top condition.

Fold them away neatly
Don’t stuff your underwear draw messily or overfill it, as this can damage the cups and underwire in your bras. Similarly, try not to thrust them aside on the floor of your bedroom as they are just waiting to be trodden on in the morning.

Always handwash underwired bras
Bras are delicate items, so never place them in a washing machine. If you do choose to wash bras without underwiring in a machine, make sure you wash dark and light colours separately, and never tumble dry them. To hand wash bras, place them in lukewarm water for a few minutes and hang to dry.

Avoid folding bras Folding moulded cups can be a useful space saver in the underwear draw, but it is not good for keeping your lingerie in prime condition. Always try and lie bras flat to avoid damage to the underwire and distorting the cups.
